The purpose of this report is to examine the ways in which informal learning is evolving and how organizations are leveraging it to improve performance. This Study is based on an analysis of a survey of 351 respondents. Nearly all the respondents (97 percent) reported that informal learning played a role in their learning initiatives within their organizations.

As CEO of i4cp, Kevin provides strategic direction and vision, and is responsible for the overall operations of the organization. Kevin has been a pioneer in the human capital field for the last 15 years, and is a frequent author and international keynote speaker on topics such as talent management, leadership, innovation, metrics and strategic learning in organizations.
Prior to founding i4cp, Kevin created SumTotal Systems, (NASDAQ: SUMT), the world's largest learning management system company and the industry's leading provider of talent development solutions, when he merged Click2learn (NASDAQ: CLKS) with Docent (NASDAQ: DCNT) in 2003. The merger won Frost & Sullivan's Competitive Strategy Award in 2004.
Prior to the formation of SumTotal, Kevin was the Chairman & CEO of Click2learn, which was founded in 1985 by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft. Earlier in his career, Kevin was president and founder of Oakes Interactive, an award-winning, technology-based training company in Needham, Massachusetts. Kevin also founded TopShelf Multimedia, a distributor of off-the-shelf e-Learning titles, and Acorn Consulting, a strategic consulting organization. All three companies merged with Click2learn (then called Asymetrix) in 1997, which Kevin helped take public a year later.
Kevin was also the 2006 Chair of the national American Society of Training & Development (ASTD) board, and served five years as an ASTD board member. Kevin was also the 2008 ASTD Board Selection Committee Chair. ASTD is the largest association in the world dedicated to workplace learning and performance, and its global membership reaches over 70,000 members. Kevin is also an advisory board member of Intrepid, a Seattle-based provider of outsourced workplace productivity solutions, and he serves on the board of Longworth Ventures, a Boston-area venture capital firm.
Dan is responsible for the overarching learning and collaboration strategy at TELUS. He has driven a philosophical and cultural shift in the way TELUS views and experiences learning and leadership called "Learning 2.0", the shift to a social, informal and formal learning and collaboration model for all 35,000+ team members, bringing TELUS to the forefront of learning leadership. In addition to these actions, Dan founded and chairs the TELUS 2.0 Adoption Council; a cross-functional group of leaders aimed at helping drive a culture of collaboration and engagement across the organization.
Dan is a passionate leader in the learning, Enterprise 2.0, leadership and collaboration space. He is uniquely skilled to ensure an organization can move from traditional cultures of engagement, leadership and learning to one that embraces non-traditional forms that embody the unique integration of open leadership, Enterprise 2.0 technologies & processes along with a formal/informal/social modes of learning.
