Just as there are different ways that adults process and learn new subjects, there are also differing styles of teaching. What kind of instructor are you? Do you find yourself lecturing with PowerPoint slides during most of your trainings, or do you like to break learners into groups, working together to learn a new concept? Both of these are very effective methods in teaching adults, but ask yourself: Do I rely heavily on a certain method of instruction? Most of us teach the way we prefer to learn. It’s comfortable. In reality, however, there are many learner preferences in the classroom, and there is a need to present material in a variety of ways so each learner's preferences are addressed.
