Inclusion has never been more critical to business success. Your employees demand it. Your retention strategy depends on it. Your company’s ability to innovate and survive hangs in the balance. But success depends on one key factor: leadership.
Yet only 31% of employees say that their leaders promote an inclusive environment. As L&D professionals, you can begin by developing the leadership skills that set the tone for inclusion. In doing so, it’s important to not only focus on the right skills, but also provide a safe yet challenging space for learning.

Sage Krombolz is an inclusion and diversity (I&D) product manager at DDI where she spends her days building virtual reality and diversity and inclusion offerings that aim to revolutionize the way we develop leaders. She also chairs DDI’s internal inclusion and diversity council, which endeavors to build and execute a strong I&D strategy for our global workforce. As a former philosophy major, Sage is driven to create more introspective, intentional, and authentic workplaces. If she’s not alone in her living room talking to a VR headset, she’s probably thrifting treasures at a secondhand shop in Pittsburgh or color-coding her bookshelf.
Julie is a consultant with DDI’s New York Metro team based in Manhattan. She partners closely with clients to build learning solutions, assessment strategies, inclusive leaders, and ultimately leadership development pipelines that reinforce organizational goals and values. Since joining DDI in 2018, Julie has worked with clients across a wide range of industries to create highly customized programs that focus on high-impact development and accelerating leaders’ success.
Prior to joining DDI, Julie worked as an engagement and leadership development consultant at L’Oréal USA through an initiative to transform organizational culture. She also has experience as a director of client services, building and leading a technical services organization within an educational technology startup, and she credits her passion for developing others to her time spent as an English teacher in South Korea.
